Aaron John Hat Bands

Navajo artist Aaron John is entirely self-taught. He found the key to his father’s toolbox more than 20 years ago and began fiddling with the silversmith tools he found there. After highschool, Aaron worked for a coal mine as a processor. His job was to oversea the production of raw coal and prepare it to be shipped out. He spent many hours with one eye on the coal bins and the other on his drawing pad.

Animals, birds, storytellers and themes from nature are offset with touches of colorful inlay stone in turquoise, coral & black jade, which are the colors of light reflecting off water as it moves under the sun.
